Founded in 1701, Yale University is the third oldest university in the United States and has become one of the world’s premier universities. The Department of Computer Science at Yale offers both B.S. and B.A. degrees for Computer Science. These programs teach students the fundamental of computer science while also offering a wide range of liberal arts classes to provide students with a well-rounded undergraduate education. These programs are built around a core curriculum of 5 classes focusing on an introductory computer science class, discrete mathematics, data structures, systems programming and computer architecture, and algorithm analysis and design. After completing these courses, students choose elective areas of study which broadens their knowledge of computer science. Under the guidance of a faculty member, students will conduct a senior research project where they will study truly original ideas and problems in computer science. In 1957, the Hartford Art School, Hartt College of Music, and Hillyer College merged to become what is today the University of Hartford. UH offers degrees in Computer Engineering, Computer Engineering Technology, and Computer Science. The Computer Science program provides students with a solid core curriculum focusing on mathematics, software design, machine architecture, and operating systems. Students will then choose areas such as graphics, artificial intelligence, database management, operating systems, compiler theory, networked systems, and software engineering for the last half of their undergraduate careers. Computer Engineering Technology major will find careers in design, computer hardware and/or software development, programming, and many more fields.
